Carnaby’s Cockatoo

Zanda latirostris
Nyungar: ngoolark

Carnaby’s are regular visitors to the woodlands in the corridor where several banksia species, along with marri and jarrah, are important foraging trees for them. The population of these long-lived birds is believed to have halved over the last 50 years due to nesting and foraging habitat clearing. Because Carnaby’s are an endangered species, every mature tree in the uncleared sections is important and the rehabilitation plantings are needed for their future.
