Amegilla species
Native bees depend on good quality native vegetation. Unlike commercial honeybees, native bees are stingless, usually solitary and nest in burrows in the ground or small hollows. In 2023, 25 species of native bees were recorded in the corridor following a survey that used sweep nets to catch bees on their favourite flowering plants. Native bees had also colonised ‘hotels’ constructed especially for them in the corridor. A occupied bee hotel can be observed in Karak.
